BG1 Belvue Wakefield Lorry Crash 1932

The image shows the aftermath of a lorry crash which occurred in June 1932 in Belvue Wakefield. The Lorry was travelling North along what is now the A638 Doncaster Road. The image was taken from the bridge over the Calder & Hebble Navigation canal on the A61 Barnsley Road. Boulton’s mills and granaries to the right of the picture have long since gone replaced by the apartments in Chancel Road, the Edward Sutcliffe Maltings on the left are now the location of the Ruddy Duck. The barges are carrying coal.
